We'll see you in Christchurch at Conference

The LANZ.Dental team are really excited to be attending the NZDA Conference next month as official exhibitors for the first time. Hopefully there will be a good turnout, but I understand those who say they can't afford the time!

Dentists and dental practice owners have had a tough time since the last conference back in 2019. Whilst lockdowns look to be out of the picture for the time being they have certainly taken their toll. The mental and physical cost can not yet be fully measured. And now we have staff shortages, a brutal flu season, inflation, outbound tourism returning and taking our patients' disposable income - so what's next?

Some of my observations so far this year:

Practice Sales
We are seeing more of the smaller practices doing it a bit tough. More of those clinics doing under the magic $600k a year are appearing on the market. The right ones are great opportunities - the others should be avoided.

Banks are getting tight! We have seen a number of deals fall over due to purchasers not being able to raise the funds. If we're involved early we can help structure deals to facilitate a smooth sale.

As I've always said - "look to sell 5 years before you currently plan to".

Talk to Bruce 021 777 499 or bruce@lanz.dental. Bruce will be on our stand at the conference, so come and have a chat with him.

Recruitment
We are definitely now seeing the green shoots of recovery in the recruitment market. People who we are talking to are either feeling more confident to move job or make a lifestyle change. Or they have finally got completely fed up with the poor management of their current clinic and they just need out. Mismanaged support staffing is the number one complaint. Some clinicians in larger corporate practices report having a procession of temps all year.

The borders are also open with Brits, South Africans and the odd American on their way. The thing is you need to be an accredited employer now if you want to employ them. Let us know if you need help working through this new process - we've done some of the hard work and have some solutions available.

Toni Marr is the one to talk to regarding everything recruitment on 021 229 7070 or toni@lanz.dental.

LANZ.Dental Managing Director, Dr Tony Dey; along with Bruce McCormick, Practice Sales; Lindsay Dey, Business Advice; and Toni Marr, Recruitment will be on stand 76 in the Exhibition Hall.

Tony, Bruce, Lindsay and Toni will be pleased to meet and talk with you about your staffing needs, buying or selling your dental practice, what your succession plan is, valuation appraisals, and how the LANZ team can help you through your journey.

Dr Luke Cronin of QD Active Aligners will be joining us from Australia and demonstrating his new product on stand 78
QD Active Aligners created treatment protocols to ensure repeatable and predictable results. Attachment selection and movement over-corrections, inclusive within these protocols, provide the clinician confidence the outcome will be achieved. QD Active Aligners’ design team adheres to strict quality assurance procedures, delivering faultless treatment planning.

Andy Tapper, CEO and Dr Prashant Kalyan COO, of The Dental Group will be available on stand 78 to talk about facilitating practice ownership while supporting dentists to have the autonomy, without the need for the same level of capital outlay. The Dental Group provides governance and advice and can tailor solutions to suit you. The Dental Group has a number physical practices in the North and South Island, and are in active discussions with many more to follow, as they look to grow rapidly across NZ.

Make sure youdrop by our stands and say hello.
