Here's where we hope to be able to answer some of your questions.
Do I need to be registered or licensed to practice dentistry in New Zealand?
If you are a dentist, specialist dentist, oral health therapist or hygienist - then YES, you need to be registered with the Dental
Council of New Zealand.
If you are a dental assistant, you do not need to be registered, but like all dental professionals you can be a member of the New
Zealand Dental Association.
I'm interested in buying a dental practice. What's the first step?
We suggest you read our Buyers page, and
register with us (it's free), and complete our online Confidentiality
Agreement.
That way we're able to share more detailed information like financials, staffing, assets lists, etc. about specific practices you're
interested in, once you've been vetted.
Is there a charge to help me find a job?
LANZ.Dental does not charge a fee to help you find the right
position. We have signed agreements with dental practices and they pay LANZ when we are successful.
What fees do you charge dental practice to help them find staff members?
Our fees are very reasonable and can be found here.
I'm an overseas dentist with 3+ years clinical experience moving to NZ. What kind of salary/commission can I expect to make?
Fantastic news that you're making the move to New Zealand. Of course the remuneration you get can have a lot of variables - location, type
of treatments offered, demographics, how many hours you work each week. A general rule would be somewhere around $180,000-$230,000 NZD
per year for a full time associate role (4-5 days), with a good proficiency in all aspects of general dentistry. Depending on the
work visa you are granted, you may be self-employed and the standard rate is usually 40% commission less lab fees.
What kind of visa do I need to work in New Zealand as a dental professional?
LANZ.Dental are not immigration advisers and we can not give you immigration advice. We do recommend you review the options on the Immigration
NZ
website and if necessary seek professional immigration advice. The Immigration NZ website has a lot of information, so it's worth doing a
bit of research. Also, things do change, so make sure you check back again when you're ready to start the process.
I'm a 58 year old principal dentist and I'm thinking about selling my practice. What do I start?
We always say you should start thinking about selling your practice at least 5 years before you need to. The first step could be a
conversation with one of our team, and then probably followed by a valuation of your practice. Either way we'd suggest checking out out
Sellers page where we have some good resources for you to consider.
